Volunteers Use the Scientology Handbook to Help the Victims of the Solomon Islands Tsunami
For the past two weeks a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) has been using the chapter on Scientology assists in the Scientology Handbook to help the people affected by the Solomon Islands tsunami.
 | The Scientology Handbook is the basis of the workshops the Scientology Disaster Relief Team has been delivering in the Solomon Islands. |
The team has been on the island of Gizo, where most of the damage from the earthquake and tsunami occurred.
The first villages they visited were Manda and Titiana. In Manda there was only one house left; in Titiana, where there had been 250 houses before, only four were left standing.
The VMs started helping the people they met who were in shock over the loss of their homes and devastated by the deaths of friends and family members. The Scientology Handbook is the basis of the workshops they have been delivering, to be able to help as many people as possible. Compiled from the works of L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion, the assist chapter of the Scientology Handbook is tremendously helpful in addressing the emotional and spiritual side of trauma, enabling people to recover rapidly from injury, stress or shock.
In one village, the volunteers trained the mothers to give assists. The mothers then took over helping the rest of the villagers, with the village chief overseeing their activities to make sure they were applying exactly what they were taught.
The Scientology Disaster Relief team is comprised of volunteers and is supported entirely by donations. To join the team or help fund their work, visit the Scientology Volunteer Ministers web site, or contact the International Volunteer Ministers Consultant at vm@volunteerministers.org
